About Bro. Jeremy

Bro. Jeremy Puma has been a student of Gnosticism for over 12 years. Bro. Puma is the administrator of, and Chaplain for, the Palm Tree Garden Gnostic community, an on-and-offline collective of Gnostics from many different traditions. Bro. Puma’s ministry consists of providing service and support to those who follow the Gnostic tradition as individuals due either to geographical circumstance or personal preference.

The Boy HimselfBro. Puma has been writing about Gnosticism for the past few years on the Fantastic Planet weblog, and is the author of a number of books on the theory and practice of Gnosticism in the Twenty-First Century. His personal approach to Gnosticism is based on interpretation of the traditional Gnostic scriptures, such as those found in the Nag Hammadi Library, and a healthy dose of Mahayana Buddhism, which he considers a sister tradition to the organized pursuit of gnosis.

While pursuing ordination in Stephan Hoeller’s Ecclesia Gnostica, Bro. Puma realized that the options for those who are interested in pursing the Gnostic Way are unfortunately limited by geography. There simply aren’t enough Gnostic churches or organizations to effectively serve those who wish to study and practice the tradition. There are also individuals who wish to pursue Gnosticism who choose to do so independently of organized bodies, and have very little direct support in their pursuit. This realization led to the establishment of the Palm Tree Garden, and Bro. Puma’s decision to forgo ordination within the Ecclesia Gnostica in favor of remaining a “Stranger” (Greek Allogenes).

Although he operates outside of current Gnostic organizations and churches, Bro. Puma hopes to assist those churches and organizations grow, and will always seek to encourage those outside of these traditions to seek community within them. For those who prefer not to do so, however, Bro. Puma is establishing an Order of wandering Gnostic Ministers (the Order of Allogenes) who will act on an individual basis to minister to seekers who are independent through circumstance or preference.

Bro. Puma lives in Seattle, WA. He is available for discussion, consultation, and service. Bro. Puma can be contacted through the Palm Tree Garden at:www.palmtreegarden.org/contact.php
