My UFO sighting
What with all the hoopla surrounding Roswell at 60 and such, I thought I’d share my bona-fide UFO sighting. It was, if I recall, 1996 or thereabouts. I was driving my old blue 1986 Dodge Ram pickup to my folks’ house in the suburbs of St. Augustine, Florida. It was definitely in the evening, and hot out, so I had the windows down. I was cruising around the suburban neighborhood at a good 30 miles per hour, when I noticed something bright in the sky off to my left (which would have been to the west).
Now, any Floridian will tell you that we’re used to seeing all kinds of different objects in the sky. I grew up watching shuttle launches from my front yard, and St. Augustine is smack-dab between Patrick Air Force Base in Cocoa Beach and NAS Jax, a Naval Air Station. So, I’d seen likely a greater than average roster of planes, satellites, copters and so forth in my life. But I’d never seen anything like this. I stopped and pulled over (and I wasn’t the only one, either).
I was looking at a very well-defined horizontal rectangle of orangish, yellow light (windows down, remember, so no reflection). It was moving quite slowly, vertically, maintaining its plane in reference to the horizon. From where I stood on the side of the road, the object was about the size of my index finger. When I say well-defined, I mean it was incredibly vivid– it looked almost two dimensional with a very sharp outline, almost like a hole in the sky. The sides were completely straight, the corners at 90 degrees, and it was about three times as long as it was “tall.” The object began pulsing from orange to red to yellow from left to right, growing shorter and shorter and shorter until, *poit*, it vanished. With that experience, I had been inaugarated into the few and proud (and often ugly) who have seen something strange in the sky.

Very interesting. It certianly doesn’t fit with the idea that it could be some kind of vehicle.
What it reminds me most of is the “window” described at Skinwalker Ranch in chapter 8. That chapter starts: “Of all the extraordinary things that occurred at the Gorman ranch, the most common involved the strange, unworldly orange sctructures that would appear in the wetern sky.”
They claim to have seen another sky through it and once a black triangular craft fly through it.
They also describe it as being a basically 2D object in the sky and when viewed from the side it disappeared.
I wonder if there are other similar accounts out there?

I was thinking the same thing, actually. It didn’t ‘behave’ like a craft, either– it kind of ’slid’ across the sky. Whatever it was, it was certainly ‘unidentifiable’ by me.
