Thinking, thinking, thinking….
Kay at Songs of Unforgetting was kind enough to tag me with the “Thinking Blogger Award,” one of those blog meme thingies. Kay is one of the very few authors kind enough to update their blogrolls after the demise of fantastic planet (a word to those thinking of migrating to new hosts: you will lose insane amounts of traffic). ANYhow, I don’t usually go in for these meme things unless they’re quite worthwhile, and this one fits the bill. The rules are as follows:
1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
2. Link to this post (the source of the meme) so that people can easily find the exact origin.
3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award.”
Now then: Five blogs that get my brain juices flowing follow. (I doubt that most, if any, will take up this lil’ meme thingie, but that’s okay):
Light and Life, the journal of Bishop Thomas Langley of the Alexandrian Gnostic Church. Not only is Thomas an outstanding individual, he also has an amazing ability to scope out remarkable and interesting links, quotes and articles.
Cabinet of Wonders, for all of your Fortean needs. These guys do a great job of keeping us up to date on all of the latest goings-on in the world just three quantum inches to the left of our own.
Of late, Brainsturbator has been high on my reading list. Although they don’t tend to update as frequently as we’d like (and although it’s more of a collection of articles than a formal ‘blog’), their posts are always insightful and interesting (if you ignore the annoying Tim Leary references).
No ‘thinking persons blogs’ list would be complete without the inclusion of Tim Boucher’s Pop Occulture which is consistently the most thought-provoking site on my blogroll. Tim’s an awesome cat with more than a modicum of enlightenment in his head, and if anyone in our little blog circle is gonna be the next RAW, Tim’s the one (he’ll likely deny his own enlightenment to the grave, but this guy’s got it).
Finally, Rigorous Intuition is another amazing read. Jeff Wells knows what lurks in the hearts of men, and he does a scary good job dissecting it. He navigates the snakes and ladders of ‘alternative theory’ with exceptional grace and aplomb, and though he rarely comes to conclusions, you can’t help but think about what he says.
So visit these sites, and enjoy!
